Inside Karen & Travis’ Modern Mountain Wedding

Our Cornerstone Theatre venue may be advertised as the quintessential mountain wedding venue thanks to its rustic barnwood interior and lodge-style accents. But the beauty of our namesake venue is its ability to blend different styles.

When Karen and Travis came to us with their idea for a chic, modern celebration set against the rugged background of the Canadian Rockies, we welcomed the opportunity to showcase the Theatre’s ability to shapeshift.

The Ceremony

Karen and Travis transformed the Canmore Ranch into a modern mountain wedding haven during their ceremony. The couple said an elevated “I do” on a stunning white platform, provided by the couple, surrounded by white florals. A harpist was even on hand to serenade the bride as she walked down the aisle.

The Reception

Modern chic may have been the decor theme. But food and family were the centrepiece of Karen and Travis’ big day. Guests were welcomed with a build-your-own gin and tonic bar filled with a selection of craft gin from Canmore’s own WildLife Distillery, and a house-made gourmet cheese station with charcuterie.

Inside the Theatre, the couple’s décor sparkled under the stage lighting. Modern crystal pillar vases with white candles adorned either side of the sweetheart table, with a selection of fresh florals adding a touch of natural texture.

There were fireworks during the couple’s first dance (literally) before guests took their seats for a plated dining experience. This is where it gets good: Karen and Travis treated their guests to an incredible steak dinner with mini baked brie crostinis to start, potatoes gratin with gruyere cheese, and a Bailey-infused tiramisu for dessert.
